Governance and compliance department

 

Overview

The Governance and Compliance Department is a newly established department, created by Administrative Decision No. 460501284 dated February 20, 2025. It comprises two units: the Policies and Procedures Unit and the Monitoring Unit. The Governance and Compliance Department is responsible for promoting the principles of transparency, integrity, and accountability within the university by ensuring that policies and regulations are established and updated, clearly defining responsibilities and authorities, and monitoring compliance with them. This contributes to the achievement of the university’s vision and strategic objectives.

Tasks

• Implementing governance at the university by focusing on the organizational elements that lead the institution to achieve its strategic objectives.

• Assessing the current state of the institution’s governance and the tools required to implement it in a clear and documented manner; such tools include, for example: controls, procedures, and work models that reinforce governance within the university

• Conducting periodic and regular evaluations based on performance indicators and preparing a detailed report on the evaluation results, the obstacles facing the institution, and ways to resolve them, and submitting the report accordingly.

Based on Jeddah University’s vision of achieving institutional excellence and leadership in university governance, the Governance and Compliance Department serves as a key driver of development and a guarantor of performance quality across various university sectors. The department seeks to promote the principles of transparency, accountability, and adherence to regulations and policies, ensuring that institutional operations align with approved regulations and guidelines. We also work to build an effective governance environment by developing policies, procedures, and a matrix of authorities, and monitoring their implementation to ensure fairness and consistency in administrative practices, in addition to supporting departments with specialized consultations and building institutional awareness of governance and compliance concepts.
